Protect Your Lawn
Do Not Cut Your Grass Too Short
– Scalping your lawn damages the grass, exposes it to the sun, and invites weeds and pests. Keeping length on your grass allows it to attract sunlight and build strong roots.
Do Not Remove More Than 1/3 of the Grass Length Per Cutting – The short clippings you create benefit your grass by quickly decomposing and adding nutrients back into the soil.
Alternate The Direction You Mow – Changing mowing directions will help keep your grass standing erect and prevent ruts. Create even lines by keeping your wheels two inches inside of the last line you cut.
Protect Your Mower (& Your Wallet)
Sharpen Your Blades Regularly – Not only do sharp blades benefit the health of your grass, but by sharpening your blades regularly you will help reduce stress on your engine’s mower (making it last longer) and the amount of fuel you consume.
Schedule Tune Ups & Change Your Oil – An annual tune up and oil change can help your mower save fuel and prolong its life. By keeping your mower healthy, you also PROTECT THE ENVIRONMENT by reducing emissions.
Protect Yourself
Avoid Mowing Your Grass When It’s Dark or Wet – You are much safer operating equipment when it is light out and the ground is dry enough to support you and your equipment. The best time to mow is in the evening when the hot sun isn’t abusing your freshly mowed lawn.
Take Your Time – Work cautiously and take your time while mowing to ensure safety. And always remember to relax and enjoy the ride!
